WORKSHOPS
Community Kitchen comprised a number of public design workshops held at the Community Centre, culminating in the participatory build of an installation in the adjacent community garden. This gave participants an opportunity to further engage with the community kitchen program in order to foster a sense of connection, belonging and ownership over the program and garden space. The structure and material composition of the final piece were the direct result of the participatory design workshops. Following the design process, participants were invited back to be part of construction, where they learnt and shared their skills, including working with split bamboo, using hand tools, constructing seating, and painting the structure.
